E.coli forces closure of two Barren River Lake beaches
GLASGOW, Ky.- Two beaches in Barren County are closed due to E. coli in the water.
According to the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in Barren County, officials were forced to close Narrows Campground Beach and Quarry Road Beach.
Higher than normal levels of E.coli were discovered during weekly water testing.
Officials believe fecal matter from waterfowl, such as geese, is contributing to the E.coli level exceeding EPA standards.
Further testing will take place on Wednesday, with results expected to come back the following day.
No other beaches along Barren River Lake are affected.
