Retired General Dan Cherry visits kids at Housing Authority of Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Aviation Heritage Park’s annual Hangar Party is this weekend.
The event is expecting many special guests to be in attendance.
One of those special guests is Air Force Brigadier General Dan Cherry.
Cherry is a retired local veteran who flew with the Thunderbird regimen.
He spent 29 years in the military and flew in the Vietnam War.
On Friday Cherry visited the Housing Authority of Bowling Green to share with kids what his service was like.
Cherry began serving in the Air Force as an Aviation Cadet in 1959 and chose to retire in late 1988.
He also flew two combat tours in the Vietnam War and was selected to fly for the Air Force Thunderbirds.
One message Cherry shared to inspire the kids was to do your best.
The other message was forgiveness and not holding grudges.
Even against your enemies, like the ones he fought in the war.
Cherry now serves as Director Emeritus for Aviation Heritage Park.
