Bowling Green High School student named National Student Poet

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- A Bowling Green High School student has received quite an honor.

Christian Butterfield, who just finished his junior year, has been named one of five National Student Poets.

Butterfield will serve as a Regional Literary Ambassador through readings, workshops and other programs. He will also receive $5,000.

The winners were selected from more than 20,000 applicants for scholastic art & writing awards.

The student poets will be formally appointed during a ceremony next month in Washington.

The initiative was created in 2011 and is managed by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers.
