Seven-year-old awarded for saving grandfather’s life
BROWNSVILLE, Ky.- A seven-year-old boy from Brownsville is being recognized as a hero for saving his grandfather’s life.
Logan Powell has received a medal and certificate of appreciation from the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Department.
He was recognized by the department during a ceremony at the Edmonson County Courthouse on Monday.
It was about two weeks ago when Powell was spending time with his grandfather, Leroy Childress.
The two were looking for arrowheads in a corn field, when suddenly Childress collapsed.
Powell got hold of his grandfather’s cell phone and called family for help.
He is now being recognized as a hero in the community, and the young boy says he’s excited to share the story of his heroism with friends at school.
He is starting the second grade in the fall.
Childress is still recovering following the incident.
