Russell Sims Aquatic Center opens its gates for the summer

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Summer is officially here, and what better way to kick things off than a visit to the local pool?

On Friday, hundreds and families and their children flocked to Russell Sims Aquatic Center for the park’s opening day.

Staff has spent many weeks and long hours to get the pool fully ready for patrons to enjoy the refreshing pool water.

“We spend about two weeks before the pool starts getting ready,” said Rana Cousin, an employee at Russell Sims. “Getting everything ready for the public, making sure everything’s safe. We clean the pool. The pool obviously has to be filled up, too. Make sure the water’s a good temperature. We do take our time getting everything ready for everybody.”

The park is expecting a large number of visitors as part of Memorial Day weekend festivities.
