Simpson grand jury indicts 2 additional people in 2018 beating death
FRANKLIN, Ky. – A Simpson County grand jury indicted two additional people this month in the August 2018 beating death of Damain Cook.
Cook, 19, was found unresponsive in a garage Aug. 7, 2018 in the Broderson Mobile Home Community and taken by medical helicopter to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville where he died Aug. 11.
Police charged two people last year in his death. A grand jury indicted two others earlier this month. Willa Jean Davenport, 19, and Alexis Oliphant, 19, both of Franklin, are charged with complicity to murder in the case, Kentucky State Police Trooper Daniel Priddy said.
Davenport was arrested Friday, according to online jail records. Oliphant was arrested Saturday.
Two Tennessee residents, Jordan G. Alford, 23, and Amie Alford, 52, both of Portland Tenn., were charged last year with murder in Cook’s death. Both of the Alfords’ arrest citations accuse them of striking Cook with a wooden object. Both were initially charged with first-degree assault, Simpson Circuit Court records show. The assault charged was dismissed and upgraded to a murder charge for each of the Alfords.
Both Alfords are being held in the Simpson County Detention Center.
Davenport is being held in the Allen County Detention Center. Oliphant is being held in the Logan County Detention Center.
