Low voter turnout expected in Kentucky for Tuesday’s Primary

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Kentucky Secretary of State, Alison Lundergran Grimes, is predicting low voter turnout for Tuesday’s Primary election.
According to a news release from the Secretary of State’s office, approximately 12.5% of the 3.4 million Kentuckians registered to vote will participate on Tuesday.
Grimes says it appears the turnout will be consistent with past primary elections, adding, “It is not okay that a small portion of Kentuckians will vote to elect the Commonwealth’s next constitutional officers.”
Grimes projects turnout for the May 21 Primary election will be in the range of the 2015 primary election, when about 12.57% of 3.1 million Kentuckians voted, respectively.
