Woman who shot and killed father, sentenced in Hart County

MUNFORDVILLE, Ky.- A 22-year-old woman from Hart County who shot and killed her father and critically injured her mother was sentenced to 20 years behind bars on Tuesday.

According to Asst. Commonwealth’s Attorney, Joe Ballard, Brina Nie was sentenced to 18 years for manslaughter and another two years for wanton endangerment.

Nie agreed to a plea deal last April. As part of the deal, a murder charge was changed to manslaughter and an assault charge was changed to wanton endangerment.

On Easter Sunday in 2018, Nie killed her father, Jeffrey Nie and shot her mother, Barbara Nie, at their home on G. Shelton Road.
