9 charged with alcohol, drug possession after traffic stop in Portland

PORTLAND, Tenn. – Nine individuals are charged with alcohol and drug possession after a traffic stop in Portland.

According to a Portland Police Department (PPD) press release, officers saw two vehicles traveling together southbound on North Broadway at a high rate of speed Aug. 27.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and said they located more than 9 ounces of suspected marijuana and alcoholic beverages between the two vehicles.

PPD says 9 adults, ranging from 18 to 20 years old, were charged after the recovery of the substances.

The suspects were traveling from Indiana to Atlanta, Georgia, and were driving through Portland, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing.
