$6,000 grant awarded to Mammoth Cave National Park for teacher workshop

MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky.- Area school teachers will soon be learning more about Mammoth Cave National Park, thanks to a grant.

State Farm is awarding the non-profit, Friends of Mammoth Cave National Park a grant worth $6,000. The money will provide teachers with an opportunity to attend an overnight workshop at the park this summer.

The workshop will focus on using science, technology, engineering and math practices in a hands-on setting.

It will include a full two days of lessons as well as teaching materials, such as rock and mineral kits for the teachers to take back for use in their classrooms. All participant meals and lodging will be included through the grant from state farm.

The workshop is scheduled for July 9-10.
