5 Kentucky river ports get grants for important repairs

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Gov. Andy Beshear has announced that five Kentucky river ports are receiving a combined $450,000 for critical repairs and equipment replacement. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said the funding comes in the form of grants that will be matched by authorities that operate the river ports at Paducah, Eddyville, Henderson, Owensboro and Louisville. Projects include the repair of eroding river banks in Eddyville, removal and replacement of two damaged mooring structures in Henderson and the purchase of a front-end loader in Owensboro. The Kentucky General Assembly set aside funding for the grants, and river ports applied for the grants to the Water Transportation Advisory Board.
