4th of July travel has broken record numbers

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – If you’re traveling for the upcoming holiday, be prepared.

AAA projects over 50 million people will be traveling at least 50 miles away from home for Independence Day, with around 4 million of those flying to their destination.

Gas is also down both nationally and in Kentucky compared to this time last year and has been trending down since May. According to AAA, crude oil princes have been in the 60 dollar range over the last week or so, but demand for gas is sure to shoot up after the holiday.

AAA said the best thing to do is leave very early on Friday or leave after 6 p.m. for more optimal travel conditions.
