4-year-old boy, woman killed in Meade County crash

BRANDENBURG, Ky. – A 4-year-old boy and a woman were killed Thursday in a car accident.
The Kentucky State Police responded around 2:43 p.m. to investigate a two-vehicle fatal collision at KY 79 near KY 313 in Brandenburg.
KSP says after investigating, officials determined Kristin Sowder, 38, of Brandenburg was driving a 2002 Mazda south on KY 79.
For an unknown reason, KSP says Sowder’s vehicle crossed the centerline into the path of a 2005 Mack truck, leading her vehicle to leave the roadway and overturn.
The Meade County Coroner’s Office pronounced Sowder dead at the scene. A 4 year-old juvenile passenger was transported to Kosair Children’s Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Meade County EMS transported the operator of the truck to Baptist Health Hardin for possible injuries.
The investigation is ongoing by KSP.
