3rd annual back-to-school block party with Mt. Zion and BGPD
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Mt. Zion Baptist Church and the Bowling Green Police Department are throwing a back-to-school block party for the third year.
On July 22 from 4 to 7 p.m., the first 600 children to show up at 175 Graham St. will receive a free backpack, along with some school supplies. There will also be raffles for Chromebooks, laptops, TVs, WKU football tickets and some other prizes as well.
Rev. John Lee, who leads the church, said it is possible through anonymous donors, Stuff the Bus and other community collaborations.
Lee said it’s not just about the giveaway – the communal aspect of it is important to them as well.
Lee encouraged the entire community to come out and enjoy the camaraderie. He also said the church is aware of Bowling Green’s diverse community, so for those who don’t eat beef or pork, they’ll have food for those as well.
