3 south central Kentucky airports receive federal funding in response to COVID-19
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced Tuesday that airports around the country will be receiving federal funding to help respond to the COVID-19 public health emergency.
More than $77 million from the recently passed CARES Act will be distributed to 55 airports in Kentucky, including three in the WNKY viewing area:
Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport- $69,000
Glasgow Municipal Airport- $30,000
Russellville-Logan County Airport- $30,000
According to a news release from the FAA, the funding will support continuing operations and replace lost revenue resulting from the sharp decline in passenger traffic and other airport business due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. The funds are available for airport capital expenditures, airport operating expenses including payroll and utilities, and airport debt payments.

“This $10 billion in emergency resources will help fund the continued operations of our nation’s airports during this crisis and save workers’ jobs,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao.
