2026 Football Frenzy Preview: Butler County Bears
MORGANTOWN, Ky. – Butler County is today’s Football Frenzy 2026 preview, presented by Bowling Green Fireplace and Grill.
The Bears started off 2025 with three consecutive wins but were unable to find success after that. This year, the team has learned from the ups and downs and is ready to show their growth this fall.
“ We got complacent,” senior Maddox Moore said. “I think after our three wins, we just came into that fourth game with our heads held high and we acted like we were going to steamroll everybody, and then we got punched in the mouth and we didn’t know how to handle the adversity. I think that’s one of the biggest things we need to work on is handling adversity.”
Handling adversity is what Butler County is prepared to focus on this year in order to not only start the season strong, but showcase a full body of work this time around.
Head coach Josh Robins believes in order to do so, they’ll have to be rooted in the team’s five pillars.
“We go by our standard, which is hustle, show courage, know your assignment, care about winning and loyalty,” Robins said. “We have to be able to do all five of those things. Last year we would kind of fall off on one or two when things started getting hard for us and we’ve really focused on that this year.”
Loyalty is one of the standards Robins mentioned, and with a lot of returning Bears back in key skill positions this year, these players are understanding the importance of having camaraderie.
“Everything brings our team together. That’s the main thing with football,” sophomore quarterback Brody Dockery said. “You got to have brotherhood. If your whole team’s together, you’re unstoppable.”
Coach Robins wants to see his guys play hard and be physical on Friday nights, but it’s the work put in off the field that’s the most important.
“I just wanna see them play together,” Robins said. “That’s a big thing. Play by our standard, don’t give up on each other and be positive, even when the hard times come. Just push through adversity. That’s what this is all about.”
Butler County opens the season at home against Breckenridge County on August 21st.
