2021 Run for Sight brings in runners for in-person event
BOWLING GREEN Ky.-Local runners teamed up Monday morning to help provide eyecare for others in need.
The annual Run for Sight 5k and 2 mile walk event took place at Covington Woods Park Labor Day. Last year, the run was virtual, and members of the Bowling Green Noon Lions Club said sign ups were off the chart, as people were itching to get back to the run in-person.
This event by the Bowling Green Noon Lions Club Has Downing Eye Care as the presenting sponsor. 100% of the event’s proceeds benefit children and adult eyesight conservation in Bowling Green and Warren County.
Member Sam Kirtley says that the amount of people who show up to run says a lot about the character of the community.
“It’s our best fundraiser that we run all year. We usually raise about $10,000, and that money goes back into the community to buy eyeglasses for children and adults who can’t afford them,” Kirtley said.
