2 juveniles charged after firearm brought into Glasgow High School

GLASGOW, Ky. – Two juveniles are charged after police say a firearm was brought onto Glasgow High School’s campus on Tuesday.
Police say they responded at about 3:30 p.m. for the incident this afternoon.
Authorities say the juvenile had contacted another juvenile to meet him inside of a bathroom, where he allegedly took the firearm from his waistband and placed it inside a backpack.
Police say the two juveniles then left the school campus.
Both individuals were located, along with the firearm, which police say was confirmed stolen.
Both juveniles are facing multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a weapon on school property, possession of a handgun by a minor, first offense, and receiving stolen property (firearm).
Both juveniles were lodged in the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center.
The Glasgow Police Department says it commends school administration and staff for their prompt response.
Glasgow Independent Schools has since released the following statement:
“On the afternoon of January 7th, Glasgow Independent was notified of a potential weapon on the premises of Glasgow High School. We promptly collaborated with the Glasgow Police Department. An unloaded weapon was discovered and apprehended. To the best of our knowledge, no direct threats were associated with this incident, and it was resolved within a few minutes. The Glasgow Police Department took two juvenile students into custody regarding this matter. We extend our gratitude to the community for their willingness to provide information to schools and the Glasgow Police Department for their prompt assistance in addressing this concern. We will have additional police presence at Glasgow Schools on Wednesday.”
