2 dead, 2 wounded following homeless shelter shooting in Henderson

HENDERSON, Ky. (NBC) – At least two people are dead and several others were injured in a shooting at a Kentucky homeless shelter Thursday night.

Police responded to reports of shots fired at Harbor House Christian Center in Henderson around 7:30 p.m.

Chief Sean McKinney of the Henderson Police Department stated they received a call around 7:40 p.m. about shots fired, and four victims with gunshot wounds were found at Harbor House Christian Center upon arrival. After authorities were notified of a person of interest, they located the person’s vehicle around 9:47 p.m., according to McKinney.

According to Harbor House’s Facebook page, they are home to a Christian-based organization that is “a safe harbor for men in need,” and “dedicated to bringing men up in the community.”

According to officials, two people are dead and two others were injured.

Officials say Kenneth B. Gibbs, who was a resident at Harbor House, has been identified as a person of interest and that he is currently in police custody.
