2 charged after crashing into vehicles, fleeing police in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – An Ohio man was arrested after fleeing police in an alleged stolen vehicle.

According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police received a FLOCK notification for a stolen vehicle from Belmont, Ohio on Monday around noon.

The stolen vehicle was traveling on Cemetery Road at the intersection of Cherokee Drive.

Warren County Sheriff’s Office deputies later located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at a gas station.

According to the citation, the passenger, 22-year-old Briar Depalmo, of Carrollton, Ohio, exited the vehicle. Deputies say Depalmo got back inside the vehicle, and it drove away.

WCSO deputies initiated a pursuit on Natcher Lane. Deputies say the vehicle was traveling at speeds up to 80 miles per hour.

A KSP trooper intercepted the vehicle on the U.S. 31-W Bypass.

The vehicle continued onto River Street, where it crashed into the sides of two vehicles that were stopped, according to the citation.

Following the crash, Depalmo and the driver, 18-year-old Mavrick Croskey, of Amsterdam, Ohio, fled the scene on foot, authorities say.

Depalmo was arrested at the scene of the crash.

The trooper says Croskey scaled down the bridge and into the water.

Croskey was arrested after a brief foot pursuit.

According to the citation, Croskey said his parents rented the vehicle for him and that he did not return it after the rental period expired. Croskey allegedly told police he was “on the run” and stayed in Bowling Green for a “couple of days.”

Croskey is charged with reckless driving, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer), receiving stolen property $10,000 or more, failure to wear a seat belts and failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurace (first offense).

Depalmo is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot).

Both were lodged at the Warren County Regional Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
