2 arrested after hit-and-run collision in Simpson County

FRANKLIN, Ky. – Two people are facing charges after a reported hit-and-run collision in Simpson County.

According to a uniform citation, the Franklin Police Department responded to an injury accident on July 20 around 10:11 p.m. off of Nashville Road in Franklin.

Police say dispatch stated it was a hit-and-run collision.

Authorities say they observed the vehicle that fit the description of the one that fled the scene with heavy front end damage and a headlight hanging from the vehicle.

Officials say the vehicle then fled when they attempted a traffic stop.

When the vehicle pulled over and stopped, authorities say the driver was pulled out at gunpoint.

Authorities say 58-year-old Linda Carnes, who was sitting in the passenger seat, was detained.

The passenger, identified as 46-year-old Owen Brady, was also detained.

Authorities say both individuals had the odor of alcoholic beverages.

Police say two open beers were visible in the cupholders.

Authorities say while speaking to Brady, he stated he was the passenger when Carnes hit a vehicle.

Upon speaking with a witness, officers say they stated Brady had been driving at the time of collision and that it was a road rage incident. Authorities say they were also told that Carnes had been in the passenger seat.

While viewing surveillance footage, police say they identified the driver at the time of the collision as Brady and that he had fled the scene.

Both Brady and Carnes were transported to The Medical at Franklin for medical clearance.

Brady is charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, first offense, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle prohibited, leaving the scene of an accident – failure to render aid/assistance and first-degree criminal mischief.
