#19 WKU Volleyball to Face Jackson State in 1st Round of NCAA Tournament
INDIANAPOLIS – With the Conference USA automatic bid, WKU Volleyball is set to match up against Jackson State in the opening round of the 2020-21 NCAA Tournament on Wednesday, April 14 from Omaha, Nebraska. The Hilltoppers will head to the Bubble with a perfect 21-0 record after locking up the program’s 11th automatic – and 13th overall – bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Wednesday, April 24 – 9:30 p.m. CT | No. 19 WKU vs. Jackson State
Thursday, April 15 – 9:30 p.m. | Winner vs.  Washington State
WKU and Jackson State will face off for the first time in program history on April 24 in a match that will stream on ESPN3 from the CHI Health Center Omaha. The pair of First Round foes make up two of the six unbeaten teams appearing in the NCAA Tournament this year.
The Lady Tigers posted an 11-0 record across the season after notching a perfect 9-0 mark in regular-season SWAC play. Jackson State won the first two matches of the SWAC Tournament before its Championship match against No. 3 seed Arkansas – Pine Bluff was canceled and JSU earned the automatic bid.
If the Hilltoppers can secure a First-Round win, they would face the No. 15 seed, Washington State. The Cougars currently rank 15th in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll while WKU came in at No. 19. WSU is 11-4 on the season – all in Pac 12 play.
Since joining Conference USA prior to the 2014 campaign, WKU has secured six of the possible seven automatic bids into the NCAA Tournament while also winning the regular-season championship each of those seasons.
Despite the pandemic-shortened season, WKU Volleyball kept its 20-win season streak alive. The Hilltoppers secured their 20th win in the C-USA Tournament Semifinal with a win over UTEP. WKU owns the fifth-longest active streak in the NCAA at 21-consecutive seasons.
First and Second Round play of the 2020-21 NCAA Tournament will take place Wednesday and Thursday, April 14 and 15. In total, 32 teams will play in the First Round before 16 advance to face the top 16 seeds of the tournament in the Second Round. Regional Semifinals and Regional Finals (Sweet 16 and Elite 8) are slated for April 18 and 19 with the National Semifinals and National Championship set for April 22 and 24.
