19 government offices in Kentucky to shut down due to federal funding cuts
Nineteen Kentucky offices are now listed on the Department of Government Efficiency website as part of the agency’s nationwide budget cuts. It’s fifteen more Kentucky offices than were originally reported on the website on February 28th. Officials say it symbolizes an expansion of Elon Musk and Doge’s influence on the federal government’s operations in the commonwealth. The DOGE website lists the following locations, square footage, and financial amounts but leaves out the offices’ exact locations.
The following locations are set to be closed:

- Barbourville: $370,008, Mine Safety Health Administration
- Paducah: $77,216, Internal Revenue Service National Office
- Beaver Dam: $169,089, Mine Safety Health Administration
- Hazard: $294,613, Mine Safety Health Administration
- Prestonsburg: $453,865, Mine Safety Health Administration
- Madisonville: $657,114, Mine Safety Health Administration
- Owensboro: $253,390, Internal Revenue Service National Office
