PERRY COUNTY, Ky. – A 16-year-old girl is dead and another may face charges following an ATV crash in Perry County.

According to a report by K105, Perry County sheriff Joe Engle said deputies responded to the crash on Saturday around 9 p.m. on Oakwood Avenue in Vicco.

K105 states an investigation showed an ATV with four occupants, including two 16-year-old girls and two adult males, was being operated by one of the teen girls.

“She lost control of the vehicle, it went over a hill, over a culvert-type embankment, resulting in the death of a female juvenile,” Engle said before adding, ““We do suspect that alcohol is involved in this, from our preliminary investigation.”

According to K105, the victim has been identified as Emilynn Clark, a sophomore at Perry County Central High School.

One of the adult males on the ATV was flown with “serious injuries,” Engle stated, according to K105.

The teen operator of the ATV has been charged with driving under the influence, with a blood test pending. Engle said his office and the commonwealth’s attorney and county attorney will determine whether more charges are filed, K105 states.

According to K105, police are still working to confirm who bought the alcohol. The investigation is ongoing.

Perry County Central High School released the following statement:

“It is with the deepest sadness we have learned one of our students at Perry County Central High School was tragically killed in an atv accident Saturday evening. Our hearts are broken for the student’s family, her friends, and our Commodore family. Counselors will be on hand Monday morning as a resource for our students and staff. Please keep this family and others involved in your thoughts and prayers in the days to come.”
