100,000 Americans await lifesaving transplants

Celebrate National Donate Life Day Friday

GLASGOW, Ky. – Did you know that even the largest football stadium in the US could not fit the number of patients on the national transplant waiting list?

Friday is National Donate Life Day – a time when Donate Life works extra hard to educate folks on why it’s so important to register as an organ, eye, and tissue donor.

You can help represent and spread awareness for National Donate Life Day by wearing blue and green.

In honor of the over 100,000 people across the country waiting for lifesaving organ transplants, TJ Regional Health will host a Donate Life Flag Raising Ceremony Friday morning starting at 10:08 a.m.

“So the reason we’re doing it at 10:08 a.m. is because one organ donor can save up to eight lives,” said Executive Vice President of Marketing, Planning & Development Stacey Biggs. “It honors donors who have saved the lives of countless people across the United States, including right here in Kentucky, and even in our own community.”

You can join the community hospital for the flag-raising ceremony. There on-site, you register to become a donor.
