1 transported to hospital after fire at home on Media Drive

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One person was transported to a local hospital after a fire at a residence on Media Drive on Tuesday, fire officials say.
According to the Bowling Green Fire Department, units were dispatched at 9:47 p.m. on Tuesday for a laundry room fire at a single-family home.
Upon arrival three minutes later, firefighters say they observed heavy smoke throughout the home and flames coming from the side window.
During a search of the residence, fire officials say one victim was located within two minutes and two seconds of arrival.
The patient was removed and given care before being transferred to Med Center EMS and transported to a local hospital.
The fire was under control by 10:03 p.m., fire officials say. A total of 22 firefighters responded to the scene.
The fire department also issued the following statement on Facebook:
“If you notice larger recruit classes and requests for additional BGFD fire stations in the future, this is why. We strive to arrive at the location of the scene as quickly as possible and have enough firefighters on each truck to get the job done. That means getting water on the fire while also performing crucial search and rescue operations, like the one completed for this fire. Being fully staffed and ready for when you need us is key, and we are going to continue striving to be the best we can be for our community.”
