LEITCHFIELD, Ky. (K105) – A puppy has died following a reported house fire in Leitchfield.

According to a report by K105, the Leitchfield Fire Department responded Saturday night for a report of a house fire at 192 Taylor Fork Road.

Upon arrival, firefighters could see flames “rolling out of the front door (and) onto a camper trailer parked next to the home,” Leitchfield fire chief Tim Duvall stated to K105.

K105 reports first responders were unable to save a dog inside of the home due to extreme heat and flames.

“I just wish I could have gotten the puppy out,” Duvall stated, according to K105.

According to the report, firefighters saved the camper despite outside heat damage, however, the home was a total loss.

Duvall stated the fire’s origin was a wall plug in the living room.

Firefighters cleared the scene Sunday morning at 12:22 a.m., K105 says.
