1 of 3 victims dead after Old Dominion University shooting, dead suspect identified

NORFOLK, Va. (WTKR) – One of three victims has died after a reported shooting Thursday at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
That’s according to a report by WKTR, which confirmed the suspect is also dead. According to NBC News, two senior law enforcement officials briefed on the matter stated the shooter was identified as 36-year-old Mohamad Bailor Jalloh of Sterling, Virginia.
WKTR states Garrett Shelton, chief of police of ODU, said all three victims are associated with the university.
According to a social media post by the university, the school is closed Thursday and Friday, and resources will be available to students and staff to help process what occurred.
According to WKTR, Garrett says the ODU Police Department and Norfolk Police Department received calls at 10:43 a.m. through the 911 center regarding an active shooter in Constant Hall.
Garrett further stated police were notified that people were “being shot in one of the classrooms,” WKTR reports.
At 10:47 a.m., Garrett says the first officers arrived on scene, with confirmation by 10:50 a.m. that the individual identified as the “active assailant” was dead.
The investigation remains ongoing.
