1 dead following crash in Rockcastle County

MOUNT VERNON, Ky. – One person is dead following a crash in Rockcastle County.
The Kentucky State Police says on Tuesday around 3:06 p.m., troopers received a call from Rockcastle County 911 regarding a collision at the 63-mile marker on Interstate 75 southbound.
Authorities say they learned during a preliminary investigation that 58-year-old Rex A Loveless was driving a Dodge Charger southbound on I-75. Troopers say a passenger, Melinda Loveless, stated Rex Loveless pulled onto the right shoulder of the road and began complaining of pain.
Authorities say the passenger further stated the vehicle then rolled off of the shoulder and struck a rock wall.
According to authorities, Rockcastle County EMS transported the driver to Rockcastle Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities say the passenger was not injured in the collision. Next of kin was present at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
