1 dead, 1 injured in fatal collision on I-65 in Warren County

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One person is dead and another was flown after a collision Saturday in Warren County.

According to the Kentucky State Police, troopers received a call just before 5 p.m. about a fatal collision near the 15-mle marker of Interstate 65 north.

According to authorities, a preliminary investigation revealed 80-year-old Garland Johnson of McDonough, Georgia was traveling south in a 198 Cadillac el Dorado in the northbound lane of I-65.

Troopers say Johnson collided with a 2017 Jaguar SUV driven by 36-year-old Mesa Reinier of Hialeah, Florida. According to the Warren County Fire Department System, one of the vehicles was on fire upon arrival.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Warren County coroner. Reinier was flown to TriStar Skyline Medical Center for treatment.

Troopers were assisted by units from Alvaton, Plano and Bowling Green fire departments.
