NEW DETAILS: 1 dead, 1 flown following crash on I-65 northbound

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – One person is dead and another was injured following a crash on Interstate 65 Friday morning, troopers say.

Kentucky State Police public affairs officer Katan Parker confirmed one person has died, and another was flown to a hospital for treatment after a single-vehicle rollover crash.

Troopers say the incident occurred on I-65 northbound at the 49.9 mile marker in Barren County.

Parker says troopers received a call about the collision around 6:55 a.m.

According to KSP, a red 2015 Kia Sorento was traveling northbound on I-65 when it lost control and went off of the road, overturning and colliding with a tree.

Troopers say a back seat passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by the Barren County Coroner’s Office.

Another passenger in the vehicle was taken to T.J. Sampson Community Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

Identities have not been released at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
