1 charged, juvenile detained after reports of shots fired near Russellville apartments

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – A man and a juvenile have been detained in connection with multiple shots fired complaints in Russellville on Wednesday night.

According to the Russellville Police Department, officers responded around 10:16 p.m. to Robinwood Apartments after reports of a suspicious vehicle linked to multiple reports of shots fired.

Authorities say upon arrival, the vehicle was located parked on an access road off of Highland Lick Road. Soon after, officer say they were alerted that shots fired calls were coming into dispatch from Robinwood Apartments and that a vehicle had been struck.

A juvenile was immediately seen running from the scene and detained, authorities say. The primary suspect, 19-year-old Kel’Shaun Mitchell, was later found and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, tampering with physical evidence, second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, third-degree criminal trespassing, obstructing a highway, no operator’s license and no registration plates.

The investigation remains ongoing.
