SMITHS GROVE, Ky. – A vehicle fire is no longer active after igniting at the gas pumps at Buc-ee’s in Smiths Grove, according to police.

Smiths Grove police chief Jason Franks confirmed Sunday that the fire was contained to the inside of the vehicle.

No people were injured, however, Franks says the owner’s small dog died despite multiple efforts from first responders.

Franks says the Smiths Grove Volunteer Fire Department worked to aid the dog, and first responders transported it to a local veterinary clinic. In addition, Franks says quick and efficient responses from Buc-ee’s staff helped contain the fire, and pumps were shut off.

There is no danger to the public, according to police.

The Smiths Grove Police Department and volunteer fire department were assisted at the scene by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
