Fire destroys Falls of Rough vacation home

FALLS OF ROUGH, Ky. – Multiple units were at the scene of a house fire in Falls of Rough.
According to WNKY News 40 media partner K105, on Saturday around 7:45 p.m. the Falls of Rough Fire Department, Caneyville Fire Department, Leitchfield Fire Department, McDaniels Fire Department, EMS and Grayson Co. Emergency Management responded to the 2300 block of Blue Bird Road for a reported house fire.
K105 reports a Falls of Rough firefighter, Austin Massina, was on his way home from responding to a medical incident when he saw heavy smoke coming from Blue Bird Road.
Massina traveled to the source of the fire, and saw the home was almost entirely on the ground.
It’s reported the fire then began to spread to a wooded area.
Firefighters were on scene working to extinguish the fire and check for hot spots for more than two hours.
K105 says one of the vacation home’s co-owners said a cleanup and restoration company was drying out the residence after recent flooding with over a dozen fans and humidifiers. He says the main electrical breaker at the home was tripped twice days before the fire.
The fans and humidifiers have not been confirmed as the cause yet, but they are considered suspected causes at this time.
No injuries were reported.
