Proposed bill requires ‘In God We Trust’ signage to be displayed at Kentucky schools

A new bill in Kentucky would require public elementary and secondary schools to display the motto "In God We Trust" in a prominent location. The Lexington Herald-Leader is reporting that State Representative Brandon Reed, a Republican from Hodgenville, has pre-filed the bill for the 2019 General Assembly.

The motto ‘In God We Trust’ is the United State’s national motto, and is featured on money, license plates, among other things.

Reed said, "There is no reason for us to be ashamed of our national motto, it is a vital part of our culture."

The move comes following similar laws in Tennessee that were passed in both the state Senate and House.
