Paul planning trip to Russia

Kentucky senator and Bowling Green native, Rand Paul, is planning a trip to Russia next week.

According to a spokesman, the trip is aimed at "Supporting President Donald Trump engaging around the world."

Paul is expected to meet with lawmakers in Russia from both chambers of the Russian parliament, and Sergey Kislyak, the former ambassador to the US. In recent weeks, Paul has emerged as a major ally in Trump’s dealings with Russia, and it’s president Vladimir Putin.

Paul has said that "in all likelihood" Russia interfered in the 2016 elections, but he argues that this controversy has distracted from the bigger picture relationship talks with Russia.
