#NotInOurTown Rally against hate comes to Bowling Green this weekend
A self-proclaimed rally against hate, #NotInOurTown, is being held in downtown Bowling Green this weekend in response two white supremacist groups coming to town for a private meeting.
According to the rally’s Facebook page, the National Socialist Movement and League of the South, groups involved in the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, will coming to Bowling Green for a special meeting.
The page goes on to say, “These are groups that carried torches and shields, terrorized locals, and screamed “Jews will not replace us.” They have come to normalize hatred in our town. Our rally is to address and counteract this message of hatred, and to send our own message… Not in our town!”
The rally will be held Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at Circus Square Park and is being coordinated by Southern Kentucky DSA. Event speakers are to be determined.
The Bowling Green Police Department tells us there has been no threat to anyone’s safety from either the rally or the meeting, which they say will be held in an undisclosed private residence.
