Job Description: The evening news producer must be the calm in the storm no matter what the day is bringing. He or she must be able to always manage a crisis and instill confidence in the anchors that all is well in the booth even if Tricaster has gone up in flames. The producer also must remain calm and helpful with MMJs when they are in the field and having equipment problems. He or she will manage the newscasts from beginning to end overseeing the content of the news and how that news is presented on the air and on the web. The news producer will collaborate with the news director, reporters and anchors and will supervise the overall content and distribution of the news. Newscasts must be relevant to this area. Responsibilities include gathering information, collaborating with the news director to select and prioritize content, select footage and sound to ensure consistency in the newscasts and work with the production team to maintain technical standards. The news producer must constantly stay aware of local, state, national and international news and how that news affects this region.
Qualifications: Proven track record with news production, experience with digital technology, in-depth knowledge of the production process, solid grasp of journalism and ethical standards, excellent organizational, time management and math skills, performs well under pressure, leadership skills, attention to detail and strong writing skills.
Preference given to producers who have any experience as an MMJ.
Physical Requirements or Restrictions: Sight and dexterity to do computer input. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. equipment.
