Lightning strikes caught on surveillance video
Surveillance video shows the moment a of massive lightning strike as severe storms rolled through Florida.
The lightning struck near Apopka Police Department just after 8 pm Tuesday. And an officer can be seen getting out of his police cruiser, but quickly jumping back in. Power in nearby building was temporarily knocked and electrical transformers were damaged. Fire officials responded to haze in the police building, but they couldn’t locate any damage or fire.
There are no reports of injuries. We spoke to Marlee Boenig, Bowling Green’s Fire Department spokesperson about lightning safety and she said, "You definitely need to call 911 and allow us to come take a look at it, just to make sure there’s no hidden fires in the walls or in the ceiling."
