KHSAA pushes back start date for all winter sports
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Covid-19 is once again affecting high school sports throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Due to a rise in the number of cases and resurgence of the coronavirus in the Bluegrass State, the KHSAA elected Wednesday afternoon to push back the start date of all winter sports to January 4th.
The impacted sports include boys basketball, girls basketball, swimming, wrestling, competitive cheer and dance.
As far as the specifics of basketball goes, the regular season will begin on January 4th, with District Tournaments starting on March 1st and Regional Tournaments kicking off a week later, on March 8th.
The renowned Sweet 16 tournament in Lexington is tentatively set to take place from March 17-21 and March 24-28.
In addition to the postponement of this upcoming regular season, all winter sports teams will not be allowed to practice until December 14th.
