K-9 officer dies due to sudden illness

It’s with great sorrow, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office reports their furry four-legged officer has lost his life.

Their K-9, Max passed due to a sudden illness. Max served on the force for the past year as a certified narcotics and tracking dog and was used on many occasions to track criminal suspects and missing persons. The office says he was a big piece in their mission to take drugs off the streets, an integral part of their family, and will be greatly missed.

A memorial will be held for Max in the near future.
