Proposed UN resolution would reject US Mideast peace plan

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Palestinian supporters have circulated a draft U.N. resolution that would reject the recently launched U.S. plan to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The proposed resolution says the American peace plan violates international law and Security Council demands for a two-state solution based on borders before the 1967 Mideast war. The U.S. plan envisions a disjointed Palestinian state and sides with Israel on key contentious issues. The resolution could be put to a vote on Feb. 11 when Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is expected to address the Security Council. It would almost certainly be vetoed by the United States.
