Fox News: Black deaths, stock market graphic was insensitive

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Fox News is apologizing for how it displayed a chart comparing the stock market to the aftermath of controversial black deaths. In a statement Saturday, Fox said context was needed for the graphic that aired Friday to illustrate market reactions to periods of civil unrest. Fox said it was sorry for what it called “the insensitivity of the image.” The statement followed a sharp backlash to the graphic that was shown on “Special Report with Bret Baier.” The chart that aired on Fox News compared S&P 500 gains in the periods that followed the killings of Martin Luther King Jr., Missouri teenager Michael Brown, and George Floyd in Minneapolis.
