Column: Fall shows winning is never as far away as it seems
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. (AP) — Robert Streb was too young to spend time looking back at his only win instead of looking ahead to his next one. Not so for 47-year-old Stewart Cink when he ended an 11-year drought. They are part of a remarkable trend during the fall portion of the new PGA Tour season. In nine regular tournaments, five winners were ranked outside the top 300 in the world. The fall usually provides that kind of opportunity. But having so many players win from that far down in the world ranking is a reminder winning is never as far away as it seems.
