Beshear points to personal experience to tout mask wearing

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky’s governor has highlighted his own brush with the coronavirus to stress the importance of wearing a mask to combat the spread of COVID-19. Gov. Andy Beshear reported Friday that the state’s surging outbreak is continuing. The state posted 1,457 new confirmed virus cases, the state’s third-highest daily total since the pandemic began. The state reported 16 more virus-related deaths. Beshear’s office says the governor will finish his quarantine Saturday. That’s two weeks after a member of his security detail tested positive for COVID-19. Beshear says they both wore masks as they sat next to each other in a vehicle.
