Adams announces bid for second term as secretary of state

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Republican Michael Adams says he’ll seek another term as Kentucky’s secretary of state in 2023. During his current term, Adams oversaw the state’s elections through a global pandemic. And at one point he made a deal with Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear to promote voter participation. Adams announced his reelection bid on social media Friday. Adams specialized in election law as an attorney before entering public office. He considered a run for attorney general in 2023 but opted to seek another four-year term as Kentucky’s chief election official. Adams was elected secretary of state in 2019, defeating Heather French Henry.
