Former professor charged with felony
According to a news release from the university, Matt Dettman has been charged with felony fraud in connection with the testing of concrete and soil samples by the WKU engineering department.
Dettman was placed on unpaid administrative leave in October 2017 and resigned two months later.
WKU conducted an internal investigation and based on preliminary findings, turned all details over to the FBI. In the information filed in U.S. District Court, Western District of Kentucky, the FBI is charging Dettman with diverting payments for those concrete and soil tests to accounts under his control and for his personal use.
