Former Daviess County worship pastor charged with child sexual abuse found dead

UPDATE (Feb. 20) – The Kentucky State Police says David A. Rodgers, who was charged with child sexual abuse offenses, is dead after an apparent suicide.
KSP responded to Rodgers’ home at approximately 9:45 am and located his body, according to a release.
Rodgers was out on a $75,000 bond.
The release states that KSP’s protocol is to keep a current investigation open until a death certificate is issued.
A formal request to clear the case will be filed with the Daviess County Courts, according to the release.
WFIE reports that Rodgers was a former worship pastor at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Owensboro.

UTICA, Ky. – A Daviess County man is facing charges after allegedly having a sexual relationship with a juvenile.
According to a release, the Kentucky State Police arrested 40-year-old David A. Rodgers, of Utica, following an investigation into allegations involving a juvenile on Monday.
KSP says troopers arrested Rodgers Monday night.
Rodgers allegedly engaged in a sexual relationship with a juvenile through a position of special trust.
Rodgers is charged with third-degree rape, second-degree sodomy – position of authority, first-degree sexual abuse, procuring or promoting use of a minor by electronic means and possession of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor under 12.
Rodgers was lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center.
The investigation is ongoing.
