Cram the Cruiser event in Edmonson County
“It’s hot, but you know it’s worth it, our kids are worth it.” says Lisa Whobrey, the Edmonson County Community Education Director.
Lisa is talking about Cram the Cruiser… an annual one-day "Stuff the Bus" event to supply children in need with school supplies.
“Today is so special because we are here to actually help the kids of Edmonson County. Which is what it’s all about. If we can help the kids and help them be a little less stress when they go to school.” says Chief Jeff Jewell, with the Brownsville Police Department.
For the past 12 years… multiple agencies including Kentucky State Police, Brownsville Police Department, and the Edmonson County Ambulance Service have came together to raise money and collect donated school supplies for children in need.
“It just makes me appreciate our community that much more. Our community loves our children. I love our children. I love what I do. I love that I am able to do what I do. It is so humbling.” says Lisa Whobrey.
100% of the supplies donated and monetary donations go directly to students in Edmonson County.
Because of this annual event, Lisa says they are able to help every single child that needs school supplies in the county…
“To see a kid light up over the little things. It’s amazing. Its worth every sweat drop we drop, because it’s a child. A child that may not otherwise have that. We are able to provide that so that’s what’s important.” adds Lisa Whobrey.
Stuff the Bus comes to Bowling Green next week July 19th– 23rd at Bluegrass Cellular on Campbell Lane.
