Churchill Downs Spokesman Executive, John Asher, passes away
Longtime Churchill Downs Spokesman Executive and WKU Grad John Asher passed away yesterday at the age of 62.
Asher was an award-winning radio journalist before becoming a widely respected fixture at the Louisville Racetrack. He was on vacation with his family in Florida, when he had a heart attack, Churchill Downs said in a release.
At a news conference, Track President Kevin Flanery cited Asher’s passion for the derby, his family and Western Kentucky University.
Churchill down’s iconic twin spires were lit Hilltopper red and black last night to honor Asher. Asher was a native of Leitchfield, and is survived by his wife and three daughters.
